Vote: Central Jersey Area Readers’ Choice Baseball Player of the Week poll for Week 6

Welcome to the MyCentralJersey.com Readers’ Choice Baseball Player of the Week poll after the sixth full week of action.

Area teams include squads from the Greater Middlesex Conference, Skyland and area Union counties.

Please note that the votes don't always show up immediately. There are lags for the votes to register and a winner isn't declared until hours after the poll closes.

The poll closes Thursday at noon. 

Anthony Calantoni

Edison

Senior

Calantoni has been a sparkplug-type player throughout his career for the Eagles. He leads Edison with 19 runs scored and nine stolen bases this spring. He went 5-for-7 last week with two runs and two steals as Edison went 2-0.

Vincent Canavan

Piscataway Magnet

Sophomore

The sophomore had a big two games as Piscataway Magnet went 2-0 against Timothy Christian. He went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, five runs scored, three walks, a triple and three stolen bases. He also earned a win by allowing two runs (1 ER) with seven strikeouts in four innings in a 16-2 win.

Alex Famolari

North Hunterdon

Junior

When his team needed him, Famolari stepped up. The righthander came up with six scoreless innings scattering three hits and three walks with four strikeouts as the Lions topped Phillipsburg 1-0 in the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex/Tournament semifinals.

Casey Hoeckele

Bernards

Junior

Hoeckele continued his strong season on the mound by firing a one-hitter over six innings with one walk and 12 strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Morris Catholic. The righthander has a 1.08 ERA in 32 1/3 innings with 46 strikeouts for the Mountaineers this spring.

Connor Levine

North Brunswick

Senior

The senior had a big game in the Raiders’ 13-3 win over Piscataway Magnet. He went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs and earned the victory going four innings and striking out four.

Izaiah Robinson

Franklin

Senior

The Warriors erupted for 28 runs in two wins last week, including topping Bound Brook in the Somerset County Tournament preliminary round. Robinson was an integral part of it by going 3-for-5 with three RBIs, scoring five runs, walking twice and stealing two bases. He’s hitting .395 for the season with team-highs in runs (17) and stolen bases (14).

Julius Rosado

South River

Senior

Pick any week of the season, and Rosado could be on this list. The shortstop/pitcher has been a GMC stalwart since he hit .578 as a freshman and had a 1.34 ERA with 95 strikeouts. His latest efforts included allowing a run with 11 strikeouts in the full five innings as the Rams beat South Brunswick 13-1 in the GMC Tournament play-in game. He also hit .643 (9-for-14) with three walks, six RBIs, seven runs, three triples and six stolen bases as South River went 4-0.
