Opening week is in the books and local lacrosse players are off to a high-flying start. The weather certainly hasn't keep them from getting hot right out of the gate.
While Week 2 promises more stick-raising performances, it is time to select the region's top player in our first MetroWest/Milford Daily News boys lacrosse player of the week poll (March 31-April 5). Vote below.
Niko Andrews, AMSA
The junior totaled six points with three goals and three assists in a win over St. Bernard's on Wednesday.
Cooper Bellan, Blackstone Valley Tech
The junior scored three goals and had an assist Saturday against Oakmont after scoring twice on Wednesday vs. Auburn.
Nate Burns, Hopkinton
The senior goalie made a combined 32 saves against Ashland and Westwood.
Rex Friedholm, Lincoln-Sudbury
The junior scored four goals together with three assists in a win over Marshfield on Saturday.
Luke Lewis, Hudson
Notched a hat trick in both games last week for the Hawks, as the sophomore scored three times each against Littleton and Bay Path.
Jack McElligott, Holliston
The senior scored six goals in a win over Dedham on Thursday and added two more to go with four assists on Saturday against Wayland.
Shane Monaco, Assabet Valley
He scored the overtime winner, his seventh goal of the game, in a 13-12 win over Greater Lowell on Friday.
Jack O'Connor, Franklin
The junior scored four goals in a 19-1 win over Oliver Ames on Wednesday, Franklin’s only game of the week.
Liam O'Dowd, Westborough
The senior struck for seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) in a win over Groton-Dunstable Thursday for the undefeated Rangers.
Alex Peck, Natick
The senior captain amassed 12 points (8 goals, 4 assists) against Foxborough on Thursday. He finished the week with 16 goals in three games.
Ryan Roman, Algonquin
The junior opened the season with four goals and two assists against Leominster Tuesday, then scored twice and had an assist Thursday in a win over Shrewsbury as the Titans started 2-0.
