Warren Roberson withdraws from the portal, returns to the Longhorns

After testing the waters of the transfer portal, Warren Roberson is returning to the Longhorns. The talented cornerback announced that he would be back for the 2026 campaign on Friday. With Roberson back in the mix, the Longhorns have a veteran piece in the secondary they can rely on as they look to return to the College Football Playoff.

Since making his collegiate debut during the 2024 campaign, the Texas native has recorded 25 total tackles in 28 games. He has also added two pass deflections to his resume and continued to improve with more playing time. His return comes following the most productive season with the Longhorns.

During his sophomore campaign, Roberson set a career high in total tackles with 19 and pass deflections with two. Although his playing time was limited, the former highly regarded recruit made the most of his opportunities. As the Longhorns chase a national title, he will again serve as an important depth piece.

Over the last few weeks, the Longhorns have been busy when it comes to the portal. Their additions include Cam Coleman, Raleek Brown, Rasheem Biles, Melvin Siani, and Hollywood Smoothers. With more talent on the board, that list could continue to grow as the Longhorns look for ways to improve their roster.

Although the start of the regular season is still months away, the Longhorns' secondary is in good shape. It is set to include Bo Mascoe, Graceson Littleton, Kobe Black, and Jelani McDonald. That group will be hard for offensive coordinators to plan against.

If Roberson can continue to build on his success, then the Longhorns' defense will be in good hands as they look to end their national title drought.
