Watch Broncos coach Sean Payton announce Bo Nix injury
Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton returned to the podium after his initial postgame press conference on Saturday evening to announce news about starting quarterback Bo Nix.
"Not good news," Payton told reporters who were still in the media room long after Payton's initial presser ended. "On the second-to-last play in overtime, Bo fractured a bone in his right ankle. He's scheduled to have surgery Tuesday of this week, which will put him out for the rest of the season."
The injury happened on a designed run, one play before Nix's deep pass to Marvin Mims that drew a pass interference penalty which set up Denver's game-winning field goal in a 33-30 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Guerilla Sports caught most of Payton's announcement, which can be viewed below.

Payton said Nix told him, "God's got a plan for him," and the quarterback noted that he suffered ankle injuries in high school and college. Payton then quipped, "If I had known that, I wouldn't have drafted ya." Payton then praised Nix's toughness
With Nix out for the rest of the postseason, Denver will start backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham in the AFC Championship game next weekend. Stidham went 1-1 as a starter in 2023 after Payton benched Russell Wilson.
"He's ready," Payton said of Stidham. "Watch out. Just watch."
