Watch: Joan Laporta’s wild celebration after Barcelona election victory

Joan Laporta has officially secured another term as president of Barcelona after a commanding victory over rival Victor Font in the club’s latest presidential election.

Laporta received 32,934 votes, representing 68.18% of the total, a result that confirmed the overwhelming support he continues to enjoy among Barcelona members. 

The election day itself was filled with emotion for the Barcelona president. 

Throughout the day, early poll indications suggested Laporta was heading towards a decisive win. 

Despite the strong projections, the president remained cautious and attempted to contain his excitement until the official result was announced.

Wild celebration

Once the final count confirmed his triumph, however, the celebrations quickly began. 

Laporta and members of his team embraced the moment as they gathered to mark the victory that reaffirmed the confidence of the Barcelona membership.

After being officially proclaimed president for the next five years, Laporta addressed the media while surrounded by members of his candidacy and the executives who will form his new board of directors.

The Barcelona president made his ambitions clear, promising supporters an exciting future for the club.

“These years will be passionate and magnificent. We will become unstoppable,” he said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Thanking everyone

Laporta also took the opportunity to thank several key figures within the club who participated in the election process, including head coach Hansi Flick, sporting director Deco, and Bojan Krkic.

“It’s good that Barça’s coach participated.”

Finally, Laporta delivered a passionate message to Barcelona members, emphasising that the overwhelming nature of the victory will give the club renewed strength moving forward.

“This result is resounding and gives us a lot of strength. So much so that it makes us unstoppable. 

“No one will stop us, friends. We will continue to fight against everything and everyone. 

“Exciting years are ahead that will be the best years of our lives for Barça and its members. Visca el Barça and Visca Catalunya!”
