Wednesday's Golf Roundup: Bearcats claim third win in as many days

Sep. 18—Three consecutive meets and three consecutive victories for the W.F. West boys gold team, the latest a 209-254 triumph over Shelton on Wednesday afternoon at Newaukum Golf Club. Jamie Conzatti earned his second medalist honors of the week with a nine-hole scorecard of 39.

Jax Potter and Gage Wiens each fired a 41 while Emmett Goodman and Jayce Ayers both carded a 44. Bearcats head coach Matt Klovdahl feels there are "eight or nine" players that are competing for the six varsity team spots.

Up next for W.F. West is an early preview of the Evergreen Conference Championships on Monday at the Sibley Scramble at Alderbrook Golf Course.

Black Hills secures another EvCo thriller

Fueled by medalist Jack Casler and runner-up Logan Stallings each with a nine-hole score in the 30s, the Wolves were able to eek past Aberdeen 207-214 in a match on Wednesday at Tumwater Valley.

For the second straight match, Black Hills beat a league rival by exactly seven strokes. Casler fired a 36 and Stallings was close behind with a 38. Joel Beldo and Kendell Roberson registered a 41 and 42, respectively. All four of Aberdeen's scoring golfers were in the low-40s.

The Wolves will also be in the Sibley Scramble on Monday in Shelton.

Warriors freshman Knutson picks up first career meet medalist

Alongside a pair of brothers from Montesano, Rochester's Clayton Knutson recorded a nine-hole score of 44 at Riverside Golf Course to share the medalist honors in a Class 1A Evergreen League dual on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs, powered by all of their scoring-four in the mid-40s, clipped the Warriors 180-191. Boden Grimm and Cash Edminster were the next two lowest scores for Rochester at 45 and 48 while Wesley Dahl fired a 54.

"I'm proud of the grit they showed," Warriors head coach Brian Keese said. "We have a great group of underclassmen this year and I am looking forward to seeing how competitive we are going forward."

Rochester and Montesano will join the EvCo in Monday's Sibley Scramble in Shelton.
