Michigan State hockey opened a pivotal Big Ten series against Notre Dame on Thursday night, earning a 4-2 victory, and a key three points in the Big Ten standings.

Donning a throwback jersey to 1986, the Spartans were outmatched at times by the Fighting Irish, but like good teams do, they found a way to win when it mattered most.
