Where LSU football's Sam Leavitt ranks on On3's top-100 player list?

One of LSU football's new quarterbacks received major hype from On3. In an article posted Thursday about the outlet's way-too-early top 100 college football players for 2026, Sam Leavitt ranked No. 11.

"He’s an elite downfield thrower," On3's Clark Brooks said. "Against his top defensive foes, Leavitt posted a plus-59 percent Depth Adjusted Accuracy each of the last two years. For context, that’s akin to what Heisman-winner and top draft pick Cam Ward scored in his final Impact Study."

Leavitt, a rising redshirt junior, comes to Baton Rouge with two years of eligibility remaining. After signing with Michigan State in the class of 2023, he spent a season with the Spartans, then transferred to Arizona State in 2024, making LSU his third school.

As a redshirt freshman in 2024, Leavitt took the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoffs. His play generated plenty of hype in 2025, but he had season-ending foot surgery midseason. While he'll still be rehabbing in the spring, Leavitt is the undisputed top contender for the starting role under Lane Kiffin.

"LSU has the makings of an offensive juggernaut," Brooks said. "And will go as far as Leavitt can lead them."
