Who are the Saints picking in Round 2 mock drafts? Experts like this quarterback

Round 1 of the 2025 NFL draft is in the books, and now all eyes are on Round 2. So who will the New Orleans Saints pick on Friday night? We took a quick sample of the second-round mock drafts going around after the first wave of picks, and here's who the experts have the Saints taking:

ESPN: QB Tyler Shough, Louisville

Given the uncertainty regarding Derek Carr's shoulder injury, the Saints need a quarterback who can step in and play immediately. Shough's seven-year run in college has him prepared to hit the ground running as a rookie.

CBS Sports: CB Trey Amos, Ole Miss

The Saints still have a litany of needs and must add more youthful cornerbacks to this roster. Amos is rock-solid.

Pro Football Focus: EDGE Nic Scourton, Texas A&M

Scourton brings an alluring combination of overall size and pass-rush moves to the edge spot, which gives him ideal versatility for 3-4 or 4-3 fronts. However, he does have some length and flexibility limitations. In his current state, he feels like a player who can disrupt and amass pressure but won't be a high-sack-count rusher.

Sports Illustrated: QB Tyler Shough, Louisville

The Saints are high on Shough, who will turn 26 in September and has a lengthy injury history. But, he’s loaded with tools—size, arm talent and play extension—to be a quality pro passer.

The Athletic: QB Tyler Shough, Louisville

Whether or not Derek Carr is healthy this season, the Saints need a long-term answer at quarterback. Shough — a much better athlete than people realize — had outstanding flashes last season in Jeff Brohm’s offense. He possesses the frame (6-5, 219) and arm talent to be a potential NFL starter.

There's clearly some thought about the Saints taking a quarterback here, and their interest in Shough has been previously reported. We'll find out very soon whether there's anything really there or if the Saints go in an unexpected direction instead.
