It’s time to vote for the standout high school performer of the week for the Central Wisconsin area.
The Menke GMC Athlete of the week poll for May 11-18 is open until noon May 22.
Choose which high school performer you think stands out and shined brightest from a field of high-performing student-athletes and cast your vote.
Leyton Schuett, Edgar baseball: Schuett helped Edgar snatch a 12-4 win over Auburndale, in which he struck out eight in six innings and notched two hits, one run and two RBI.
Addison Kluck, D.C. Everest softball: Kluck’s 18 strikeouts helped the Evergreens bounce back from their first loss last week and hand the back-to-back Division 5 champions their first loss.
Drew Woelfel, Marathon baseball: Woelfel helped Marathon pick up a 26-2 win over Newman Catholic on May 13, with three hits, four runs and two RBI.
Taelyn Jirschele, Mosinee softball: Jirschele belted two home runs, and notched eight RBI in Mosinee’s 33-0 victory over Northland Pines on May 8.
Amelia Castleberg, Stevens Point girls soccer: Castleberg notched another trio of goals in SPASH’s 3-2 win over Kohler on May 15.
Ean Shuda, Marathon softball: Shuda notched a game-high of five RBI in Marathon’s win over Newman Catholic across three hits.
Ben Friday, Pittsville baseball: Friday recorded two hits, two runs and four RBI for the Panthers in their win over Loyal.
Payton Jaminski, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln softball: Jaminski helped the Red Raiders notch a 9-3 win over Wausau East on May 16 with three hits, two runs and one RBI at bat, and 11 strikeouts in seven innings pitched on the mound.
Chloe Hanson, Wittenberg-Birnamwood softball: Hanson recorded four hits, including two doubles to complete a stellar day at bat for the Chargers in their 7-2 win.
Claire Lewallen, Iola-Scandinavia/Amherst girls soccer: Lewallen notched a hat trick in a 6-0 win over Mosinee on May 12.
