Who should be Menke GMC Athlete of the Week? Vote now

Who is Central Wisconsin's standout high school player of the week? You be the judge.

The Menke GMC Athlete of the Week poll for June 1-8 is now live until Thursday, June 12 at noon.

Cast your vote for the best area performance in the heat of intense postseason competition across baseball, track and field and softball.

Chris Marcell, Marathon: Marcell won gold in both the discus throw (211-4) and the shot put throw at the WIAA track and field state championships. 

Aubrey Klatt, D.C. Everest softball: Klatt influenced D.C. Everest’s first-ever trip to the WIAA state tournament with a home run, and one RBI in the Evergreens 6-0 win over Menomonie. 

Maci Heise, Wausau West track and field: Heise won gold (42.79) in the 300m hurdles and a fourth place (12.18) medal in the 100m dash.

Lucas Haemmerle, Pacelli baseball: Haemmerle struck out eight and gave up zero hits and zero runs in Pacelli’s 10-0 win over Almond-Bancroft. 

Daelyn Rieck, Colby track and field: Rieck won gold (133-4) in the discus throw and earned a silver medal (41-2 3/4) in the shot put event at the WIAA track and field state championships. 

Mya Dernbach, Almond-Bancroft softball: Dernbach tallied three hits, including a double, and drove in two to help the Eagles edge Three Lakes 5-0 and advance to their first state tournament berth in 41 years on June 5.

Addison Kluck, D.C. Everest softball: Kluck struck out 14 across a perfect game to help D.C. Everest beat Menomonie 6-0. 

Kyle Schreiner, Athens track and field: Schreiner won gold (14-3.) in the pole vault event at the WIAA track and field state championships. 

Bella Thomas, Assumption track and field: Thomas won two gold medals, both in the 100-meter dash (12.18), which was her second-consecutive, and also captured her third consecutive state championship in the 200-meter dash (24.45).

Ben Beck, Iola-Scandinavia track and field: Beck won gold (9:28.02) in the 3,200 and also earned a fourth-place medal 4:18.89 in the 1,600 dash.
