Will Patriots pursue Maxx Crosby after historic trade blow-up?

The New England Patriots were one of many teams interested in trading for Las Vegas Raiders two-time All-Pro pass-rusher Maxx Crosby. And then the Baltimore Ravens swooped in and blew all of the other offers out of the water by agreeing to send their 2026 first-round draft pick and 2027 first-round pick to the Raiders in exchange for the star defender.

It seemed like a done deal, initially, until Tuesday's bombshell news that the Ravens had backed out of the trade due to "medical concerns that arose during a physical," via ESPN's Ryan McFadden.

So Crosby will hop on a plane ride back to Las Vegas, while both the Ravens and Raiders formulate new game plans. This is all good news for other teams hoping for a chance to land Crosby, who is once again available to be traded. The Raiders have made multiple free agency moves already with the assumption that Crosby wouldn't be on their roster for the 2026 season.

With the injury now looming in a potential trade, Las Vegas might be forced into a position where they have to come down on their asking price. If that's the case, the Patriots should at least make a phone call and keep tabs on the situation. They already agreed on a deal with veteran edge rusher Dre'Mont Jones in free agency, but they could still use an elite No. 1 pass rusher like Crosby to put their defense over the top.

But what about the Tom Brady report?

One person involved in the Raiders and Ravens trade reportedly told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that there was "no way" Brady would have allowed Crosby to be traded to the Patriots. Given the current state of things for the Raiders, they might be better off simply taking the best offer they can get, regardless of their partial owner's previous history with the team.
