Wisconsin in-state power forward commits to Northern Iowa

Wisconsin in-state power forward Zavier Zens committed to Northern Iowa on Thursday.

Zens chose the Panthers over offers from Colorado State, Bradley, Buffalo, Drake, UW-Green Bay, Illinois State, Miami (OH), St. Thomas, Toledo and Wyoming. While Iowa, Northwestern, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Wisconsin are all listed as interests, none officially offered the 2026 prospect.

247Sports currently lists the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native as a three-star recruit. He's specifically ranked as the No. 240 player in the class of 2026, the No. 36 power forward and the No. 3 recruit from the Badger state. The rising senior at Wisconsin Lutheran High School averaged 22.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 2024-25, while shooting 67.3% from the field and 51% from 3. He was a major factor in his team's Division 1 state title, scoring 19 points on eight-of-13 shooting in its championship win over Marshfield.

Wisconsin currently has one player committed in its class of 2026: three-star in-state small forward LeTrevion Fenderson. The team finished the 2025 cycle with the nation's No. 44-ranked class, headlined by in-state standouts Zach Kinziger and Will Garlock.

While the Badgers did not officially offer Zens before his commitment to Northern Iowa, significant time remains until the 2026 cycle concludes.
