2 Jaguars rookies placed on IR; one will return this season, one won't

The Jacksonville Jaguars released their initial 53-man roster for the 2025 NFL season, and included were injury designations for two members of the rookie class.

The first is that linebacker Jalen McLeod has been placed on injured reserve and designated to return. McLeod has to miss a minimum of four games to start the season.

McLeod has been sidelined for the last several weeks with what has been called a lower-body injury.

Along with playing linebacker, McLeod brings a versatile skill set to the Jaguars' defense, able to line up as a pass rusher off the edge as well. At 236 pounds, he brings an added speed element to that pass rush role.

The other injury designation is for safety Caleb Ransaw, who was placed on injured reserve but was not designated to return. This means that Ransaw's 2026 season is over.

Ransaw was reportedly working through a lower-body injury. Those are all the details we have at this time.

The Jaguars drafted Ransaw in the third round of this year's draft out of Tulane. He tested very well during the pre-draft process, and most of his playing time in college came from the nickel, where he was stingy in coverage and a reliable tackler.

With the Jaguars, Ransaw was filling a more traditional safety role, lining up deep and in the box.
