2024-25 All-Area Boys Basketball

2024-25 All-Area Boys Basketball

Apr. 15—FIRST TEAM

Kade Moffitt

Junior

Edgerton

Moffitt was the catalyst behind a resurgent season for Edgerton. The Flying Dutchmen won 11 games, five more than the previous season and 10 more than the season before that. The junior guard averaged 23.6 points, 9 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game en route to an all-Red Rock Conference nod. Moffitt is quite the talent at his position with quickness to drive to the basket along with the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. He is also a very hard worker. Moffitt scored 31 points and made five 3-pointers in a 64-61 upset of Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in the South Sub-Section 3A playoffs.

Carter Sehr

Senior

Luverne

Sehr ended his Luverne High School basketball career with a stellar senior season. The 6-foot guard was one of the best in the Big South Conference at his position all season. He was named all-conference for the second-straight year after averaging 21.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He helped lead the Cardinals to a 19-8 record, their best record since the 2006-07 season. He also helped them to a berth in the South Sub-Section 3AA championship game for the first time in at least 15 years. Sehr ends his Cardinals career with 1,398 points, which is second most in school history.

Grant Freking

Senior

Jackson County Central

Freking was a big part in helping JCC maintain its recent excellence in boys basketball. He paved the way for his team throughout the season, but especially when two key starters Roman Voss and Ben Gallagher went down with injuries early in the year. But the Huskies still went 24-5 in their bid for back-to-back Class AA state tournament appearances. The 6-foot-4 forward finished the season with 22 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game to lead the team in all three categories. He reached 1,000 career points in a narrow Feb. 8 loss to state-ranked Waseca, becoming the ninth JCC boy to achieve the milestone.

Hudsen Jenniges

Senior

Westbrook-Walnut Grove

Westbrook-Walnut Grove's boys basketball team had a bounce-back season. After going 6-22 in the 2023-24 season, the Chargers turned it around and went 17-10 thanks in large part to the play of their senior 6-foot-4-inch forward. Jenniges' record-setting career in Westbrook ended with a senior year where he averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. He holds the W-WG school record for most points (1,603) and the most career rebounds in the past 25 years (771). He also finished with 235 assists, 168 steals and 73 blocks. He will continue his basketball career at Bethany Lutheran College after high school.

Trevin Prins

Senior

Southwest Minnesota Christian

Southwest Minnesota Christian has a history of success in boys basketball and Prins has been a big part of that recently. Now a two-time all-area first team member, the senior forward led the Eagles to an 18-9 record. He is a versatile player who can score at multiple levels and be effective as a rebounder and facilitator. He led the team in scoring with 17.9 points, rebounds with 7.3 and assists with 4.6 per game. He shot nearly 60% on his 2-point field goals and averaged 1.5 steals per game. Prins' career at SWC ends with 1,360 points, 555 rebounds and 287 assists.
