3 Jaguars players to watch in Week 2 matchup vs. Bengals
Looking to improve to 2-0, the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the road in Week 2 of the NFL season to take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
Many of the NFL analysts who are making picks this week like the Bengals and their offense to come away with the win.
As is the case in any game, there's a lot worth keeping our eyes on, but these three Jaguars players in particular will have my attention on Sunday.
CB Tyson Campbell
Campbell, along with the rest of the Jaguars' secondary, faces a very difficult matchup this week, having to contend with Bengals' wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
In Anthony Campanile's zone-heavy defense, Campbell has acclimated well and put together a strong showing in the team's Week 1 win, allowing just two receptions on four targets for eight yards.
Realistically, against receivers of Chase and Higgins' caliber, there are going to be chunk plays that happen. The key for Campbell and the Jaguars' secondary is to not let those plays snowball, where one becomes two and two becomes four.
"[He's] a guy that has embraced everything around here, in terms of the way that he’s tried to go about working in the offseason program," Liam Coen said of Campbell via Jaguars on SI. "His conditioning — he’s just been in great shape. Obviously, he’s been battling, and that’s the one thing about Tyson, is when he plays with confidence and he trusts and believes in his abilities that he has, he can be dominant. He can be dominant."
RB Bhayshul Tuten
Travis Etienne is at the top of the running back depth chart for the Jaguars, but with Tank Bigsby now in Philadelphia, Tuten will be RB2 and see his workload increase fairly significantly.
Within Coen's offense, having multiple running backs to rely on is a must, as is being able to lean on this element. When the run game gets going, it keeps the offense ahead of the sticks and schematically opens up opportunities in the passing game.
Tuten's 4.32 speed brings added home run ability to the Jaguars' backfield. Last week against the Bengals, the Browns' rushing offense mustered just 49 total yards.
OT Walker Little
Against the Bengals, left tackle Walker Little is going to be seeing a lot of star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. In each of the last four seasons, Hendrickson has totaled at least 74 pressures, which includes 83 pressures in 2024, along with leading the NFL in sacks.
Despite having little practice time prior to the Bengals' Week 1 game vs Cleveland, Hendrickson still put up a whopping eight pressures in the season opener.
Consistent success for Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars' passing game starts with him having a clean pocket to work from so he can go through his progressions and operate within the timing and rhythm of the play.
