Arizona Cardinals add CB, DL in practice squad moves

The Arizona Cardinals made some practice squad moves on Wednesday after bringing in three cornerbacks for a tryout and a defensive lineman for a visit.

The Cardinals signed one player from their practice squad to the active roster, cut another from the practice squad, had anotehr player sign with another team and signed a pair of new players to the practice squad.

After placing cornerback Garrett Williams and defensive lineman L.J. Collier on injured reserve with knee injuries, cornerback Darren Hall was signed to the 53-man roster. Hall will presumably be the team's backup nickel corner this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Cardinals still have a vacancy on the 53-man roster following those transactions.

They also cut outside linebacker Elliott Brown from the practice squad.

Then they signed cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe and defensive lineman Zach Carter to the practice squad. Carter had a tryout a couple of weeks ago and returned Tuesday for a visit.

Carter has been in the NFL for the last three years. The 6-4, 301-pound defensive lineman was drafted in the third round in 2022 by the Cincinnati Bengals. He played two and a half seasons before he was cut and the Raiders signed him to the practice squad and then to the active roster.

He has played in 45 NFL games with 16 starts and has 68 total tackles and two sacks in his career.

Boye-Doe was with the Cardinals all offseason and training camp. He was cut at the end of August, among the moves to trim the roster from 91 to 53 players.

With rookie defensive lineman Elijah Simmons, who was on the practice squad, signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' active roster on Wednesday, the Cardinals also have one vacancy remaining on the practice squad.
