Arman Tsarukyan has suggested his rivalry with Ilia Topuria may not last forever. The lightweight contender opened the door to a different dynamic despite their well-known row.

The two fighters have exchanged words repeatedly over the past year. Tension grew after Tsarukyan was overlooked for a title shot, with Topuria backing the UFC’s decision and engaging in social media mockery.

That rivalry has positioned them on a potential collision course. However, Tsarukyan’s latest comments indicate there could be mutual respect beneath the surface.

On Saturday’s livestream alongside the Armenian star, Adin Ross suggested Topuria and Tsarukyan could eventually get along despite their differences.

“I really like Ilia. I think you guys would be good friends,” Ross said.

Tsarukyan responded with a brief but telling answer: “After fight.”

The streamer then added: “I don’t think you actually should fight. We should all just come to the warehouse and play basketball and ping pong.”

Tsarukyan appeared open to that idea in principle. “Yeah, it’s gonna be fun,” he replied, signalling he would not hold a lasting grudge after their potential title fight.

The exchange suggests ‘Ahalkalakets’ views the rivalry as professional rather than personal. While tensions remain, his stance leaves room for reconciliation depending on how events unfold.

Lightweight division future remains unclear amid Ilia Topuria plans

The division’s immediate future depends heavily on Topuria’s next move. He is set to face Justin Gaethje at the White House card, with major implications for the title picture.

A victory on 14 June could open the door to a move up to welterweight in pursuit of a third UFC belt. That scenario would reshape the lightweight landscape.

If Topuria stays, Tsarukyan appears the leading contender for a title shot. However, Charles Oliveira is also building momentum and remains firmly in contention.
