Auburn baseball star Mason McCraine named SEC Freshman of the Week
Auburn baseball freshman Mason McCraine was honored as the SEC Freshman of the Week, announced by the SEC league office on Monday, March 2.
The Tigers go back-to-back with SEC Freshman of the Week honors, after last week Ethin Bingaman earned the honors. McCraine helped Auburn power to another regular-season home series win against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, marking the 11th straight for Auburn baseball.
At bat, McCraine went 4-for-5 with a home run and six RBI in the second game of the series, which tied for the most RBI by an Auburn freshman since Steven Williams. This is now Auburn's sixth SEC Freshman of the Week honor since last season, and it ties with Florida for the most in the conference.
Auburn prepares to begin its final week of non-conference matchups with the midweek game against the Samford Bulldogs on Tuesday, Mar. 3, at 6 p.m. CT.
