53’ — Josip Stanisic executes a well-timed tackle to stop Jena-Matteo Bahoya from advancing towards goal.

50’ — Alphonso Davies hobbles off with an injury, he is replaced by Hiroki Ito.

47’ — Frankfurt with an early scare but the shot goes out for a goal kick.

45’ — We’re back for the second half! No subs from either side.

Halftime Observations

  • Bayern bossing this game. The entire half is just Bayern probing for another goal, you’d be forgiven for thinking Frankfurt didn’t show up.
  • Frankfurt look absolutely toothless. Apart from Jean-Matteo Bahoya, no one looks even remotely threatening.
  • Joshua Kimmich looks off it. Tom Bischof is right there itching to come on.
  • Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies are still feeling their way back in as they get back up to speed.

45+4’ — Halftime.

45’ — Three minutes of stoppage time on the board.

42’ — Jamal Musiala narrowly misses Josip Stanisic’s cross.

39’ — Frankfurt find some space but Jonas Urbig calmly collects the ball.

38’ — Musiala has a pop but it gets deflected behind for a corner.

34’ — Kane finds a shot but it’s saved.

29’ — Minor injury scare for Olise but he’s good.

27’ — Josip Stanisic and Harry Kane both take a shot but neither one goes in.

21’ — TOR! Josip Stanisic flicks on the corner kick for Harry Kane who heads it in for 2-0.

16’ — TOR! A series of passes from Bayern ends up with Aleksandar Pavlovic who volleys it with his weaker left foot on the edge of the box. Kaua Santos gets down on it but it slips past him.

15’ — Jamal Musiala gets a shot off resulting in a corner. Ball is then cleared off the line.

14’ — Nearly a quarter of an hour has passed and Bayern mostly has Frankfurt under control.

Kickoff! — Lesgooooooooo!

Lineups are out! Looks like we’ve got a strong team today. It’s nearly a champagne XI sans Konrad Laimer and Jonathan Tah.

Bayern Munich has now won all three of their February matches in a row, the most recent one being a relatively easy 3-0 over Werder Bremen. The gap between the Bavarians and Borussia Dortmund remains at six points, and both teams face good challenges. Bayern take on Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz while Dortmund travel to RB Leipzig; both teams aren’t pushovers and this could set up a tasty encounter in Der Klassiker at the end of the month.

Bayern plans to rest some players on four yellow cards so that they could be available for that crunch match against Dortmund. That match could very well swing momentum but for now, the Rekordmeister is looking to build rhythm for equally important matches in March.
