Boston Red Sox lineup: Rain expected, struggling sluggers in regular spots

CLEVELAND — Manager Alex Cora is using his regular lineup Friday against Cleveland.

The Red Sox and Guardians are scheduled to play at 7:10 p.m. here at Progressive Field.

Righty Tanner Houck (0-2, 7.66 ERA) will start for Boston opposite Cleveland righty Ben Lively (1-2, 3.86 ERA).

The ground crew began rolling out the tarp at approximately 3:12 p.m. Rain is expected tonight.

Hitters on the Guardians’ active roster are a combined 7-for-36 (.194) with one extra-base hit against Houck.

Meanwhile, hitters in the Red Sox lineup are 3-for-26 (.115) against Lively.

DH Rafael Devers continues to struggle but he remains in the second spot. He’s batting .194 with a .331 on-base percentage, .327 slugging percentage and .657 OPS in 121 plate appearances.

He leads the AL in walks (21) but also he also has a league--leading 36 strikeouts. He has just nine extra-base hits (two homers, seven doubles) in 121 plate appearances.

Since back-to-back two-hit games April 11-12, he has gone 4-for-44 (.091) with a .281 on-base percentage and .205 slugging percentage in 13 games.

Trevor Story, meanwhile, is 0-for-12 with a walk and seven strikeouts in his past three games.

Wilyer Abreu is just 9-for-56 (.161) with a .266 on-base percentage, .268 slugging percentage, one homer, three doubles, eight walks and 20 strikeouts in 16 games.
