Broncos expected to play starters vs. Saints in preseason finale

After resting quarterback Bo Nix and most of their starters in a 27-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, the Denver Broncos are expected to play their starters in a preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints on Aug. 23.

After explaining his decision to rest most starters against Arizona, coach Sean Payton said, "I’m going to play those guys eight to 10 plays and get them out. So I kind of have a plan as to how they’ll play in New Orleans."

Some starters who hadn't gotten many reps in preseason, like tight end Evan Engram, suited up against the Cardinals. Engram played nine snaps against Arizona. It sounds like he will be joined by fellow starters with a similar snap count against the Saints this weekend.

After returning from New Orleans, Denver will have until Aug. 26 to finalize a 53-man roster. Attention will then turn to the team's regular season opener against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 (view the full schedule).
