Broncos officially make injured reserve decision on Bo Nix
The Denver Broncos officially placed quarterback Bo Nix (ankle) on injured reserve on Saturday, ruling him out for the rest of the postseason.
Nix fractured a bone in his right ankle during the game-winning drive of the team's 33-30 win over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs last weekend. He underwent surgery with Dr. Norman Waldrop in Alabama on Tuesday, and coach Sean Payton said the procedure went well.
In a message posted on his Instagram page, Nix wrote that what started as "one of the most exciting games I’ve ever been a part of ended with some of the most devastating football news I’ve ever received."
After placing Nix on IR, the Broncos are set to start Jarrett Stidham against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game on Sunday.
"I can’t express how much this team and organization mean to me and how much I believe in them," Nix wrote on IG. "I couldn’t be more proud of our guys. I couldn’t be more confident in Jarrett. And I couldn’t be more excited for what’s next."
Stidham and Co. will attempt to upset New England and advance to Super Bowl LX while Nix begins rehab to be ready to return ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
