Browns HC Todd Monken reveals plan at QB position heading into 2026

One of the best parts about the NFL combine is getting availability from every head coach and general manager at the event, and the Cleveland Browns' new head coach, Todd Monken, spoke to the media on Wednesday.

Much of his time was devoted to talking about the quarterbacks on the roster and their standing with the team heading into the 2026 season. Monken revealed his stance on how he plans to handle the quarterback room heading into OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Speaking to the media at the combine, Monken stated that the Browns will hold an open competition for the starting job this offseason, seeking clarity on how to handle snap allocation heading into training camp.

The two quarterbacks Monken spent the most time discussing were Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson, and the two will compete this offseason. The Browns are still open to adding another quarterback to the roster as well, either through the 2026 NFL Draft or in NFL free agency.

Depending on what quarterback the Browns decide to add in either March or April, we will get a fairly good idea about the direction Monken is looking to take the quarterback room.
