Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins: 3 key matchups to watch on 'Thursday Night Football'
The Buffalo Bills will take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 3 at Highmark Stadium on Thursday night.
For this AFC East rivalry, it will be the games within the game that will determine the outcome.
With that, here are Bills Wire's three key matchups to watch during Thursday's Bills-Dolphins game:
LB Terrel Bernard vs. RB De'Von Achane
Running back De'Von Achane hasn't seen many carries over the first two weeks of the season. He's had just 18 total attempts this year for 85 yards, but he has caught 11 passes for 112 receiving yards. He's a major threat for the Dolphins whether it comes on the ground or through the air, and Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard will be busy trying to stop him, and he may be without his running mate in Matt Milano due to injury.
RB James Cook vs. LB Jordyn Brooks
Bills running back James Cook had a monster day in Week 2's win over the Jets. He ran 21 times for 132 yards and two scores. He'll now match up against a porous Dolphins defense who has allowed 33 points each of the first two weeks (31st in NFL) and have allowed 139 rushing yards per game. LB Jordyn Brooks will do his best to limit Cook. He is tied for third in the NFL in tackles (22) along with teammate Tyrel Dodson.
CB Christian Benford vs. WR Tyreek Hill
Tyreek Hill had quiet Week 1 with just 40 yards, but he picked it up in Week 2 by catching six balls for 109 yards. He and QB Tua Tagovailoa look in sync at times, something they were lacking towards the end of last year. They'll have a tough matchup in Christian Benford on the outside, who was the sixth-highest graded corner by Pro Football Focus in 2024.
