AJ Dybantsa and Rob Wright carried the scoring load in the second half and BYU’s role players played hard and came through with big plays as BYU picked up a much needed 82-76 win over Texas Tech Saturday night in Provo.

BYU was down by 8 at half after the Red Raiders shot 12-19 from three at half. BYU’s defense wasn’t bad, but Tech showed why they are the bet three-point shooting team in the league with several goods shots. BYU made some threes of their own down the stretch of the half to keep Texas Tech from running away with the game.

Rob Wright was the high man with 27 points (23 in the second half) and AJ Dybantsa added 21 points. Kennard Davis started 0-5 from three, but made 4 of his last 5 and scored 16 points. Khadim Mboup played 26 minutes off the bench and held Christian Anderson in check for much of the second half. Texas Tech shot 12-19 from three in the first half but just 4-16 in the second half.

After the Texas Tech win, BYU has 7 Quad 1 wins and seems positioned for either a 6 or 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

BYU next plays in the Big 12 Tournament, where they are the 10 seed and open with Kansas State Tuesday at 6pm CT. If BYU wins that they will play 7 seed West Virginia in the quarterfinals.
