Caitlin Clark Fans Are Laughing at Angel Reese After Chicago Sky Game

The WNBA preseason tipped off on Friday with a pair of games. One notable matchup featured the Chicago Sky hosting the Brazil National Team.

The Sky dominated, winning 89-62. Star forward Angel Reese posted a solid performance, scoring 15 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and collecting two steals — all in just 16 minutes on the court.

The game took place at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on the campus of LSU, the same arena where Reese played her final college season.

However, the most talked-about storyline after the game wasn't Reese's strong performance or Chicago's win. Instead, fans zeroed in on the low attendance and how it compared to the draw power of fellow second-year star Caitlin Clark.

Only 6,373 fans attended the game — a figure Clark’s supporters quickly pounced on. Here are some of the more eye-catching reactions:

"Sad sight," taunted one fan.

"Not even 50 percent sold out is crazy. Carver-Hawkeye sold out (15,000) in 27 minutes," this fan explained.

"The majority knows she’s not that good," another fan mentioned.

"Baton rouge has 4x the population of Iowa City too," one fan said.

"Her fanbase only on social media," explained this fan.

"That's less than half capacity, literally," one fan said.

The debate over star power and fan engagement comes just one day before the Indiana Fever begin their preseason against the Washington Mystics at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. On Sunday, Caitlin Clark will return to her alma mater as the Brazil National Team heads to Iowa City to face the Fever.

The latest update listed Clark as questionable for the opener due to a left leg injury she sustained during training camp.

Chicago is off until Tuesday, when it hosts the Minnesota Lynx. The Sky will then travel to Minnesota on May 10 to conclude their preseason schedule.

Clark and Reese are set to face off in the regular season opener for both teams on May 17 in Indianapolis.
