Cam Ward injury update, Titans QB does not require surgery on injured shoulder | Report
Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward won't require surgery on his shoulder injury suffered in Week 18, NFL Network reported on Jan. 5.
Good news for the #Titans and franchise QB Cam Ward: Exams revealed an AC Joint sprain in his shoulder. No surgery required, sources say. Best-case scenario heading into the offseason. pic.twitter.com/DbEaX4CP5P— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 5, 2026
Ward injured his right throwing shoulder on Jan. 4 at Jacksonville when diving into the end zone and suffering a hit from Jaguars linebacker Foye Oluokun.
Tennessee's rookie quarterback left the game after that first drive and did not return. The Titans lost 41-7 to complete a 3-14 regular season.
A source with knowledge of the situation told The Tennessean on Jan. 4 that Ward's injury is thought to be a "significant" AC sprain.
But even a Grade 3 sprain does not require surgery. Ward will have an entire offseason to rehabilitate and recover from the injury; offseason workout programs begin in-house on April 20, more than three months from now, while OTAs won't begin until at least a month after that date.
