Chargers announce several coaching hires, retentions

The Chargers announced the additions of eight new coaches. This wave of hires follows the major appointments of Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator and Chris O’Leary as defensive coordinator.

They are as follows:

  • Butch Barry (Offensive Line Coach): Formerly Dolphins offensive line coach
  • Chandler Henley (Tight Ends Coach): Formerly Dolphins run game specialist
  • Max McCaffrey (Running Backs Coach): Formerly Dolphins offensive assistant
  • Adam Gase (Passing Game Specialist): Formerly Jets head coach
  • Julian Campenni (Assistant Defensive Line Coach): Formerly Rutgers outside linebackers coach
  • Rob Everett (Offensive Assistant): Formerly Dolphins offensive assistant
  • Denzel Martin (Assistant Outside Linebackers Coach): Formerly Steelers linebackers coach
  • Sean Spence (Linebackers Coach): Formerly Western Michigan edge/linebacker coach

Additionally, the Chargers plan to retain wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal and quarterbacks coach Shane Day, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
