Chargers sign Teair Tart to three-year extension

The Chargers have agreed to a three-year contract extension with defensive tackle Teair Tart, the team announced.

Tart had a significant role increase in 2025 after re-signing with Los Angeles on a one-year deal, playing in all 17 regular-season games and the playoff games against the Patriots. He recorded 32 total tackles, one forced fumble, and recovered one fumble.

A valuable asset against the run, Tart's run defense grade ranked 9th among 134 defensive linemen (73.3), per Pro Football Focus.

Signed in 2024, Tart was a key contributor along the defensive line in his first season with the Chargers. His 75.6 pass-rush grade ranked 19th, and his 69.7 run defense was 21st.

Before joining the Bolts, Tart played four seasons with the Titans and two games with the Texans in 2023. In 47 contests (36 starts), he recorded 79 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, seven passes defended and a fumble recovery. He also had a short stint with the Dolphins.
