Chiefs might be without top two quarterbacks vs. Broncos

The Kansas City Chiefs can't catch a break at quarterback.

After placing star quarterback Patrick Mahomes on injured reserve with a torn ACL last week, the Chiefs lost fill-in quarterback Gardner Minshew to a knee injury during Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. Minshew was ruled out in the third quarter, replaced by Chris Oladokun, who was just elevated from the practice squad on Saturday.

Minshew's injury comes just four days before Kansas City is scheduled to host the Denver Broncos in a special Christmas Day edition of Thursday Night Football in Week 17. If Minshew is not cleared in time for that TNF showdown, Oladokun would presumably be in line to start against Denver's formidable defense.

Oladokun is a fourth-year quarterback who originally entered the league as a seventh-round pick out of South Dakota State with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022. Before Sunday, he had only appeared in one other regular-season game in the NFL.
