Jerry Jones hinted recently that Diggs perhaps didn't pour as much effort into last year's rehab from his previous ACL tear as the club would have liked. “He’s working hard,” Jones said of the cornerback's current rehab from another injury, to the same knee. “That’s very important, because if he will be very good and diligent as to his rehab process, then he’ll get back quicker, and he will arrive when he does get back, sounder than if he has not worked as hard. He’s more subject to injury. He’s learned that one time." The Cowboys' training staff is widely considered one of the league's best, but they've received low grades on the past two annual NFLPA player report cards.

The Cowboys have agreed to terms with nine undrafted free agents thus far, but they won't keep that many on the final roster. Auburn tight end Rivaldo Fairweather likely has the best shot at making the team if he can beat out Princeton Fant or John Stephens, Jr. Tyler Neville from Virginia, however, may have a much steeper climb. The former Harvard standout was ranked the 73rd tight end in this year's draft class.

Kentucky's Zion Childress will get some attention in camp. For starters, he played all five secondary positions as a true freshman at Texas State. That earned him a bigger chance with the Wildcats, and now he hopes the versatility will give him an edge on the Cowboys' back end alongside past UDFAs Markquese Bell and Juanyeh Thomas.

From being at arguably the most prestigious high school program to arguably the most historic college football program at Alabama to walking into the media and entertainment monster that is the Dallas Cowboys, Booker was seemingly made for the spotlight. As his coach at Florida's IMG Academy explained, "What we try to do is expose them for what the next level is supposed to be like, so when they get there, there isn’t that shock. They can hit the ground running. Him coming out in his career, he hit the ground running."

A solid draft helped the Cowboys jump three spots in Pete Prisco's latest set of power rankings, going from No. 21 to No. 18. Osa Odighizuwa and newly-signed Solomon Thomas should make for a fierce rotation at 3-tech. But what about 1-tech? The Cowboys are no longer content to just hope Mazi Smith makes the leap in Year Three. Seventh-round draft picks Toia and Akingbesote have the potential to be far more than training-camp bodies. "Stop the run," Toia said. "That's my biggest strength." Akingbesote added, "… I take pride in stopping the run, but I'm trying to develop my pass rush, so I'm here to get developed and stop that run."

Draft analyst Ian Valentino points out that Amari Cooper thrives in a situation "where the scheme prioritizes timing and the quarterback rewards players in contested catch situations." The Cowboys happen to run just that kind of system. Two and half years spent in the Cowboys organization were pivotal in helping Manyweather create an empire focused on developing the biggest men in the game.
