Dodgers’ Miguel Rojas Wrongly Identified as PED User
The Athletic’s Evan Drellicherroneously identified Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas as the recipient of an 80-game suspension.
Drellich stated the league punished Rojas for the use of a banned substance, but took down the post shortly after to correct himself. He then named Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas as the correct player.
“I’ve deleted a post incorrectly identifying who was suspended today,” Drellich wrote via X. “It was Johan Rojas of the Philadelphia Phillies who was suspended.”
Johan Rojas played 71 games with the Phillies last season, posting a 57 OPS+ through 152 at-bats. He hit one home run and managed 18 RBIs during that span.
Miguel Rojas, who hit a legendary, game-tying home run in Game 7 of the World Series last season, has had a solid spring for the Dodgers, playing in 13 Cactus League games so far. He’s slashing .333/.359/.444 with a home run and five RBIs.
What Role Will Miguel Rojas Play with the Dodgers in 2026?
Rojas signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers in the offseason, and has stated several times it will likely be his last season in MLB.
“It’s been a wild ride,” Rojas said to Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain in Oct. 2025. “I’ve given it everything that I have every single night for the four years that I’ve been here. And hopefully I can finish my career here next year. Because I’m going to retire after next year.”
The infielder will likely fill the same role he has since coming back to LA ahead of the 2023 season — that of a veteran utility infielder with an above average glove and serviceable bat.
Rojas has been a solid option off the bench for the Dodgers over the past three seasons, featuring in 341 games for LA during that stretch. He has 18 homers and 94 RBIs in that time, and is slashing .259/.313/.372. He had a slow first season back in LA at the plate in 2023, but has managed league average or better seasons in each of the last two years.
The veteran will look to play his part in a loaded Dodgers lineup as they try to defend their World Series championship and secure the first three-peat in franchise history.
How do you expect Miguel Rojas to perform in the coming season?
