Draymond Green Bracing for Punishment Over Altercation in Warriors-Timberwolves Game 2

Draymond Green is expected to step it up in a big way for the Golden State Warriors amid Steph Curry's troubling hamstring injury. With the two-time NBA MVP expected to miss at least the next three games in their second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, guys like Green will be forced to carry a heavier load.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Green could also be forced to miss time--not due to an injury but because of a looming suspension.

Green was involved in an altercation in the second quarter of Game 2 on Thursday, which led to a technical foul for the former Defensive Player of the Year winner.

The referees reviewed a play wherein Green landed an elbow on the head of Minnesota big man Naz Reid, and the game officials ultimately decided to hit the Warriors veteran with a technical foul for his actions.

The problem for Green here is that this is now his fifth technical foul in the playoffs. A seventh tech would mean an automatic one-game suspension, which would potentially leave the Warriors without another key player.

It is worth noting that Green has also already accumulated two flagrant points in the postseason. He is also just two flagrant points shy of a suspension. A Flagrant foul 2  call immediately warrants two flagrant points, which only means that Green is also in danger of a suspension on this front.

Green now has no other choice but to hold back a bit and make sure to keep his emotions in check. He is, without a doubt, one of the most important players on the court for the Warriors, and they simply can't afford to lose him at this point in the series, especially with Curry sidelined.
