Former Spartan hockey stars compete in 2026 Olympic games

While Olympic hockey competition has reached the semifinals, the end of the road is here for a pair of Spartans that were competing in the 2026 Milan-Cortina games.

Wojciech Stachowiak, who competed for Germany in the Olympics, fell to Slovakia in the quarter finals, ending their quest for a medal in the games. Stachowiak ended his Olympic run with one assist.

Dustin Gazley was privileged to play on the host team, Italy, where he got the unique experience of having the hometown crowd to play for. His Italian squad saw their road end in the preliminary playoff round, losing to Switzerland. He finished his Olympic run with one goal and two assists.

With the rebirth of the Michigan State hockey program under Adam Nightingale, the Spartans representation in the Olympic games is surely going to see an uptick in France 2030 and Salt Lake City 2034.
