From Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to Prince Yadav: Top 5 fearless young prodigies lighting up IPL 2026
In the first 11 matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, many young players have drawn attention with their performances. From batting to bowling and fielding, these players have contributed in key moments and shown that they are ready to take on bigger roles early in their careers.

Former India captain Anil Kumble, while talking to Jiohotstar, summed up the trend, saying, "It’s been incredible to watch the Fearless Prodigies take centre stage just two weeks into IPL 2026. It may still be early days, but this season is already shaping up to be one where youngsters have stamped their authority on the biggest stage, staying true to what this league has always stood for. What has really stood out for me is the confidence and intent they’ve shown. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, in particular, has been remarkable. The aggression he brings to the crease, the power he possesses, and the freedom with which he plays make him a very exciting talent to watch in the weeks ahead.”

Here is a look at five such players.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

The batter from Bihar has continued his run from age-group and domestic cricket into the IPL. After performances in the Rising Stars Asia Cup and the Under-19 World Cup, he has carried that form into this season.

He began the season with a 15-ball half-century against Chennai Super Kings and followed it with another quick innings against Gujarat Titans.

Sameer Rizvi

Rizvi first came into focus during the UP T20 League, which led to Chennai Super Kings signing him for Rs 8.4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. After being released by CSK, he was picked by Delhi Capitals. Though he had limited chances last season, he ended IPL 2025 with a half-century. This season, after an average Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he was not a regular in the XI initially but has now secured his place with two match-winning innings under pressure.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi

The Mumbai player has taken on wicketkeeping duties for Kolkata Knight Riders, which has helped him stay in the XI. Despite the team’s results, he has scored back-to-back half-centuries at the top of the order and was promoted ahead of Cameron Green in the second match. At 21, he has handled multiple roles and adapted to different situations.

Prince Yadav

Picked by Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 mega auction, the pacer earned his chance due to injuries in the pace unit. Even after the return of Mohammed Shami, Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan, he has remained in the XI. He has picked wickets in matches against Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad and is becoming a regular part of the attack.

Harsh Dubey

The all-rounder from Vidarbha has moved into IPL cricket with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Captain Ishan Kishan has used him in the Powerplay, where he has controlled runs and taken wickets, including that of Finn Allen against Kolkata Knight Riders. He has also added runs lower down the order, helping his team cross 225 at Eden Gardens.

Former India player Mohammad Kaif spoke about the mindset of these young players: "What has stood out for me about these fearless prodigies is not just their skill, but their mindset. They are not entering IPL hoping to survive, they are entering it believing they belong. That shift in attitude is significant, because it tells you this new generation is growing up with far more confidence, clarity and exposure than ever before. They are comfortable under pressure, they are willing to take the game on, and they are showing that the future of Indian cricket is already very much in motion.”

Former selector Saba Karim added: "When you look at the number of Fearless Prodigies who have grabbed the spotlight so far, you realise there is far more depth in Indian cricket than most people imagine. That is the beauty of this league, it constantly uncovers talent and gives young players a platform to announce themselves. I’ve always believed that the most successful IPL teams are the ones that get their Indian core right and back that up with sharp scouting. This season is once again proving how important that model is. The teams identifying and backing these young names are the ones creating long-term value, not just for themselves, but for Indian cricket as well.”
