Georgia Amoore, former Kentucky women's basketball star, picked in 2025 WNBA Draft

Former Kentucky women's basketball star Georgia Amoore was picked sixth overall in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics on Monday night.

Amoore became the first Wildcats women's basketball player to be drafted in the last three years. In her lone season with UK, the fifth-year senior reached career highs with 19.6 points and 6.9 assists per game. 

She holds the school record for career assists (212), second in 3s made in a season (78) and tied the record for points scored in a game (43).

In her collegiate career, she scored 2,460 points and dished out 869 assists. Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu are the only other Division I players to score more than 2,300 points and tally more than 800 assists in their careers.

Amoore spent her first four seasons at Virginia Tech, where she holds 10 school records and ranks in the top three for games started (121) and career points (1,853). She is also the first Hokie to record a triple-double.

The All-American helped lead Virginia Tech to its first Final Four appearance in 2023.
