Giannis Antetokounmpo Posts 10-Word Reaction to MVP News
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has won the 2024-25 NBA MVP Award.
Gilgeous-Alexander beat Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo to become the first Thunder player to win the MVP award since Russell Westbrook took home the honor in 2017.
SGA topped the league in total points and points per game this season, leading OKC to the best record in the NBA as well.
Antetokounmpo, who has won the MVP award two times, took to social media after finding out that Gilgeous-Alexander won the trophy this season. The Greek Freak, who has been very active on X recently, jokingly asked if Charania got hacked.
What??!!!! Did shams got hacked no way this is true??!! https://t.co/XLMkdD9WJH— Giannis Antetokounmpo (@Giannis_An34) May 21, 2025
Antetokounmpo has been having fun on X all week, answering questions from fans amid his uncertain future in Milwaukee.
Charania reported last week that Antetokounmpo is open-minded about leaving the Bucks this offseason for the first time in his career.
Milwaukee lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of this year's postseason in five games. To make matters worse, All-Star point guard Damian Lillard tore his left Achilles tendon in Game 4 and could miss the entire 2025-26 season, which is why many believe Antetokounmpo could request a trade.
The Bucks signed Antetokounmpo to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023. Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, one-time Finals MVP, one-time Defensive Player of the Year and nine-time All-Star. He has spent his entire career with the Bucks.
Antetokounmpo has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks. He put up 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game for the Bucks this season.
