How much receiver production did LSU football add in transfer portal?

LSU football lost four of its top five receivers from the 2024 squad. That made it a priority to add pass-catching talent in the transfer portal.

The Tigers did just that. Brian Kelly and staff signed three wide receivers and two tight ends. According to On3's transfer rankings, LSU signed two of the top 10 transfer receivers in the class. Former Kentucky wideout Barion Brown sits No. 3 while ex-Oklahoma standout Nic Anderson comes in at No. 9. Both have a shot at big years in LSU's offense.

And while LSU does lose a significant chunk of production, LSU returns its leading receiver in Aaron Anderson. This pass catching group is good enough to be a key piece on a College Football Playoff run.

Today, we'll look at just how much receiving production LSU added in the transfer portal. All of LSU's additions are talented, but some are more proven than others.

Receiving Yards

LSU added 2,970 receiving yards in its transfer portal class. Barion Brown leads the group with 1,528 career yards. Nic Anderson is next with 708 yards, all of that production coming in 2023 as an injury cost Anderson his 2024 campaign.

Tight end Bauer Sharp was Oklahoma's leading receiver last fall and brings 324 career yards to Baton Rouge.

Receptions

LSU's pass-catching transfers have combined for 230 career catches. Brown leads with 122 career receptions, while Anderson caught 38 in 2023. Sharp and Donovan Green, LSU's tight end additions, have combined for 64 career catches.

Destyn Hill, the former Florida State wide receiver and Louisiana native, has seven career receptions.

Receiving touchdowns

LSU's transfer additions have combined to find the end zone 25 times in their careers. Brown and Anderson both have double-digit scores. Anderson was one of the SEC's top touchdown scorers in 2023.

Sharp and Green each have two career scores.
