The New England Patriots have gotten a positive update on a potential trade for Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown.

Philadelphia has been linked to trading Brown, although it was recently reported that the team has opted not to trade him. However, NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Monday that the Eagles are likely to trade him after June 1.

Not only are the Eagles looking to trade Brown now, but Rapoport also reported that the Los Angeles Rams are out on acquiring him, which could mean the Patriots are the front-runners.

“The Rams looked into it deeply and ultimately decided it wasn’t for them," Rapoport said on Monday. "They are essentially as far as I can tell are out. The New England Patriots, who have had consistent dialogue with the Philadelphia Eagles and A.J. Brown, are still in it.”

Rapoport believes any trade for Brown won’t happen until after June 1, when the dead money is $20 million less. So, the insider believes a deal won’t happen for a couple of months, but the Patriots could very well be the frontrunner to land him if the Rams are truly out.

Brown is in the midst of a three-year, $96 million deal and has a potential opt-out after this season. He recorded 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

Brown is a three-time Pro Bowler.
