Iowa football finishes with highest Coaches Poll ranking since 2020
With the 2025-26 college football season officially over following the Indiana Hoosiers' thrilling 27-21 win over the Miami Hurricanes in the CFP National Championship Game on Monday, the final edition of the US LBM Coaches Poll has Iowa football (9-4, 6-3 Big Ten) rightfully moving up amongst the top programs in the nation.
As a result of Iowa's 34-27 win over then-No. 12 Vanderbilt (10-3, 6-2 SEC) in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31, the Hawkeyes climbed to No. 17 in the final Coaches Poll.
It's Iowa's highest finish since the Hawkeyes ended the 2020 season ranked No. 15.
Regarding the Big Ten's representation, the conference is led by newly-crowned CFP national champion and undefeated Indiana at No. 1, followed by No. 4 Oregon, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 21 USC, No. 22 Michigan and No. 25 Illinois. Washington (92 votes) is the lone conference member to reside in the receiving votes category.
