Isabela Emerling's grand slam lifts Oklahoma to 5-2 win over Ole Miss

The Oklahoma Sooners had a hard time solving Ole Miss pitcher Kyra Aycock, but came through with just enough offense to pull out a 5-2 win over the Rebels and earn the series sweep.

Aycock kept the powerful Oklahoma lineup off balance throughout the contest as the Sooners struggled with runners on base. Oklahoma didn't score until the fourth inning when Kendall Wells hit a lead-off home run for her 25th of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1.

After the home run, Aycock responded well, limiting Oklahoma to a walk over the rest of the fourth and fifth innings. But in the sixth, the Sooners manufactured base runners to put the tying run on third with one out and the bases loaded. That's when Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso called upon senior Isabela Emerling to pinch hit for freshman Allyssa Parker.

Emerling swung on the first pitch she saw and smashed the ball into the darkness beyond the left field fence for a grand slam and a 5-2 Sooners lead.

Sydney Berzon got the start for the Sooners and didn't allow an earned run in 4 1/3 innings pitched. She allowed just three hits and a hit by pitch in her outing and kept the Sooners in the game. Audrey Lowry relieved Berzon in the fifth and threw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless ball.

Lowry faced trouble in the bottom half of the sixth after the Sooners took the lead. Back-to-back singles and an error loaded the bases with just one out. But Lowry responded with back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat and keep the Sooners in front 5-2.

In the seventh, Lowry retired the Rebels in order to close out the game and moved to 15-1 on the season.

With the win, the Sooners moved to 32-2 and 6-0 in SEC play in 2026. They remained tied with the Texas Longhorns atop the SEC standings through three weekends of conference play. Oklahoma has now won 21 games in a row, and the Sooners are 11-1 on the road this season.

The six hits were the third fewest Oklahoma has recorded in a game this season. OU had four hits in their 2-1 win over Arizona State and five hits in their 2-1 win over Louisiana. It was the Sooners' fifth straight game with at least two home runs and 20th game in a row with a home run.

For Emerling, it was her seventh career grand slam, and it came in a huge moment. For Wells, her 25th home run put her three in front of UCLA's Megan Grant for the NCAA lead.
