Jake Paul has outlined his next target following the upcoming Most Valuable Promotions event, placing Nate Diaz at the centre of his future plans.

Diaz is scheduled to face Mike Perry on 16 May in a card headlined by Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano, promoted by MVP and broadcast on Netflix.

The Stockton native previously lost to Paul in a boxing match in August 2023, and they could be close to making a rematch more aligned with Diaz’s background.

Speaking on This Past Weekend with Theo Von, Paul made clear that Diaz sits above all his other potential opponents if he beats Perry. This time, not for a boxing fight.

“I want Nate in MMA. And I think it’s high on my list of priorities to do that… If he beats Perry, then me versus Nate is probably the number one thing on the list.

“Like, above Tommy Fury, above Francis Ngannou, above KSI,” he said on the podcast.

A move into MMA would represent a shift for Paul, while also raising questions around Diaz’s remarks about turning down recent UFC offers.

He claimed that he believed the promotion was not willing to match him with top-level competition and that is why he signed with MVP. However, fighting ‘The Problem Child’ would not fit that bill.

Business hurdles remain key obstacle to Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz MMA fight

Paul also suggested the main barrier to the fight is financial rather than competitive.

“It’s just the business side. He probably wants a certain amount of money to take the risk in losing to me,” he explained.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer added: “ I just don’t give a f—. I have enough money. I got all my s—. So that’s why these guys are actual ducks, it is because you can’t hide behind money anymore.”

Still, Paul shared his belief that the fight will happen, despite the lack of financial agreement so far.
