Jaxon Smith-Njigba led all WRs in long receptions this season

The Seattle Seahawks excelled at creating chunk plays through the air this season, and the emergence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a large reason why. With the Seahawks just one win away from being crowned champions, JSN led all wide receivers in receptions of 40-plus yards ahead of the Super Bowl matchup against the New England Patriots.

Across 19 starts (including the playoffs), Smith-Njigba has totaled eight catches of 40-plus yards, leading the players with the second-most such receptions by three.

While seven of JSN's eight catches of 40-plus yards occurred through Week 12, the talented pass-catcher recorded a 42-yard reception in Seattle's victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC title game. Smith-Njigba would explode for 10 catches, 153 receiving yards, and a touchdown to help the Seahawks earn a spot in this year's Super Bowl.

According to PFF, Smith-Njigba impressively had the most yards per reception (14.9) among receivers with 135-plus targets in 2025. On top of that, JSN set a career-high in average depth of target (aDOT; 11.7) this year, allowing him to showcase just how effective he can be on vertical routes.

Considering that the longest catch of JSN's career was 46 yards entering the 2025 season, seeing him lead the league in receptions of 40-plus yards is quite the feat.
