Jaylen Brown enters Celtics’ top-10 all-time scoring list

BOSTON — It was a legendary half for Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, as he entered the top-10 all-time scoring list in franchise history after a pair of free throws in the second quarter of a Wednesday night showdown with the Golden State Warriors. He had 23 points alone in the first 24 minutes of play, which was enough to pass Celtics greats Jo Jo White and Dave Cowens on the legendary scoring list.

The five-time All-Star has now tallied 13,193 points over the course of 10 seasons with the Green Team. Right ahead of him on the leaderboard is fellow Celtics star Jayson Tatum, who has 13,900 points at the moment. To reach eighth place, they'll have to catch up to one of the best players in basketball history: Bill Russell. The 11-time NBA champion sits at 14,522 points and hasn't been passed by any Celtic since 10-time All-Star Paul Pierce — and he played his last game in green and white over a decade ago.

While Brown deserves to enjoy his achievement, he still has a second half to think about. The Celtics lead the Warriors 63-50 at the break and have shot almost 47% from the field while the Dubs are hovering around 40%.

It's worth noting that the Warriors are without four-time NBA champion due to a lingering knee injury and center Al Horford, who won a championship with the Celtics in 2024, didn't have a homecoming because of a calf strain.

When play resumes, the Celtics will aim to improve to 46-23 and drop the up-and-down Warriors to 33-36. Regardless of the result, Brown is a part of Celtics history forever.
