Jets rookie CB Azareye'h Thomas is making plays at training camp

The New York Jets signed cornerback Brandon Stephens in free agency to play opposite Sauce Gardner this season. General manager Darren Mougey also drafted cornerback Azareye'h Thomas with a third-round pick (No. 73 overall) in the 2025 NFL draft. Thomas is competing for rotational reps behind the Jets' veteran starters.
Thomas has been a consistent performer at training camp lately. At a recent practice, the former Florida State standout jumped a route and intercepted third-string quarterback Brady Cook. Thomas is taking advantage by maximizing his opportunities at camp.

Thomas has terrific size for the cornerback position at 6-foot-1 and 197 pounds. The Niceville, Florida native has 10-inch hands and 32.5-inch arms, the sort of length that helps him in coverage. Thomas also displayed some athleticism throughout the pre-draft process, leaping a 10-foot-2 inch broad jump at the NFL combine.
Iron has been sharpening iron at training camp for Thomas. Stephens, who signed a three-year contract with the Jets, may be a short-term solution for Aaron Glenn in the secondary. Though it may not happen this season, the Jets are certainly hoping that Thomas could be a long-term partner opposite Gardner.
So far, the signs at training camp indicate Thomas is on the correct developmental path.
