SC Freiburg dropped to eighth place after a defeat in Frankfurt against Albert Riera’s side. Julian Schuster remarks that they should’ve taken the lead before conceding the first goal in the 64th minute.

“First of all, get well soon, Kaua Santos. This situation is symptomatic,” said Freiburg’s coach as he sent strength to Eintracht Frankfurt’s injured goalkeeper. “We could’ve taken the lead. It was a game of missed opportunities. Igor's (Matanovic’s) header just before half-time was emblematic of this.

“We wanted to show a different side of ourselves away from home than we have recently, and we succeeded. We made sure Frankfurt couldn't get into their pressing positions. It's all the more frustrating that the 1-0 came from such a situation.”

Freiburg had no attempts in the game until the first-half injury-time, but the first two big chances came their way before Frankfurt took the lead through Farès Chaïbi. “When Frankfurt take the lead at home, it gives them security and confidence. That's what I would have liked for us. It's annoying that we lost here. But it was a performance that can help us in the coming weeks.” said Schuster as his side will try to extend their 15-game home unbeaten streak against Bayer Leverkusen next week.
