Juventus eye €50m Mason Greenwood deal with Edon Zhegrova potentially heading to Marseille
Juventus are once again exploring a move for Olympique de Marseille forward Mason Greenwood, according to a report from Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Turin club have reportedly retained a long-standing interest in the former Manchester United attacker. The bianconeri had previously attempted to sign Greenwood during the summer of 2024, when then sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli held discussions with Manchester United before Marseille ultimately secured the deal.Juventus reportedly believe Marseille could be forced into significant sales if they fail to qualify for Europe’s premier competition. With three Ligue 1 fixtures remaining, OM are currently outside the automatic qualification places and remain locked in a tense battle for a top-four finish. The report adds that Marseille would value Greenwood at around €50m, a figure that would still represent a substantial financial commitment for Juventus. Nevertheless, the Italian side are reportedly hopeful that their strong relationship with OM could facilitate negotiations.
That relationship strengthened last summer following Timothy Weah’s move from Juventus to Marseille, and La Gazzetta claim another player could potentially be included in discussions: Edon Zhegrova. OM were previously interested in the former Lille winger and could be viewed as a possible replacement for Greenwood. However, Manchester United’s high sell-on clause may complicate the deal. Originally set at 50%, participation in the Champions League meant that OM were obligated to purchase 10% more of the player’s economic rights. Although it is not clear whether United will receive that percentage of a full transfer fee or a share of the capital gain. GFFN| George Boxall
