Kenny Pickett video divides fans after Panthers post
The Carolina Panthers stirred up conversation across social media this week after posting a spotlight video featuring former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett. Captioned “Klutch Kenny,” the clip showed Pickett reflecting on one of his favorite career moments — a Christmas Eve game-winner against the Las Vegas Raiders, capped by a touchdown to George Pickens over the middle.
While the memory highlighted a rare bright spot from his time in Pittsburgh, reactions on X quickly turned into a debate over Pickett’s career arc and how things unfolded with the Steelers.

Some fans pointed the finger squarely at Pittsburgh’s handling of the former first-round pick. “Steelers sabotaged Kenny’s career,” one fan replied. Another echoed that frustration, writing, “The Steelers incompetence ruined a once promising career.” That sentiment was expanded further by a supporter who posted, “As a steelers fan all the @kennypickett10 hate was crazy. He held his own in a messed up offense & we did him dirty by letting him go v instead of giving him a fair shot with an actual offense. And capable OC. Hope he gets a real shot somewhere.”
Others, however, weren’t nearly as sympathetic. “This is surely satire right? A spotlight on your third string?” wrote one user, questioning why the Panthers featured Pickett at all. Another added, “He was so clutch that he never threw 4k yards,” while a harsher critique read, “Dude is terrible. The fact he’s even still in the nfl is truly remarkable.”
There was also a mix of nostalgia and humor woven into the responses. “Can’t lie kinda miss it. Not saying he was the guy but it was fun when Pickett to Pickens connected,” a Steelers fan posted. Meanwhile, another took a jab at his exit: “My favorite was when he threw that temper tantrum because he sucks and asked for a trade. Best Steelers Kenny moment for sure.” And, of course, plenty of GIFs referencing Pickett’s small hands made the rounds.
The Steelers selected Pickett No. 20 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he started 24 games, throwing for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions while compiling a 14-10 record. His post-Pittsburgh journey has been far less stable.
After requesting a trade in 2024, Pickett landed with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he made just one start. From there, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2025, then flipped again to the Las Vegas Raiders during the preseason before hitting free agency in 2026 and signing with Carolina.
Since leaving Pittsburgh, his production has been minimal — a trio of threes in games started, touchdowns, and interceptions — reinforcing why reactions to the Panthers’ post ranged from supportive to outright dismissive.
