Kentucky Basketball is set to hold a Zoom meeting with Toledo transfer freshman point guard Leroy Blyden Jr., according to Kai McClelland of KY Insider, as the Wildcats continue to evaluate options to strengthen their backcourt.

Blyden, a 6-1, 175-pound guard, is coming off an impressive freshman campaign in which he averaged 16.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game. He also led Toledo in steals with 1.8 per contest, showcasing his ability to impact both ends of the floor.

Efficiency was a key part of Blyden’s production, as he shot 46.1% from the field and an impressive 40.7% from 3-point range on 5.6 attempts per game. He played heavy minutes as well, averaging 33.4 minutes across 34 games, emerging as one of the Rockets’ most reliable contributors.

Despite Blyden’s individual success, Toledo finished the season with a 19-15 record. Still, his performance has drawn attention from high-major programs, including Kentucky.

If Blyden were to commit to the Wildcats, he would likely play as the backup point guard, providing depth behind a potential starting addition while competing with incoming 4-star freshman Mason Williams.

Head coach Mark Pope appears focused on building guard depth after dealing with injuries in back-to-back seasons, including Lamont Butler, Kerr Kriisa, and Jaland Lowe.
